Mark is a registered instructor with the British Combat Association, an Instructor in Urban Krav Maga, included on the register of self-protection instructors and affiliated to the UK Martial Arts Alliance with over 30 years’ experience in
Martial Arts. Mark started his travels in Martial Arts with amateur Boxing in the seventies leading to Lau Gar Kung Fu where during the eighties he fought at National level in the WAKO championships and trained with the England squad. Following this he took up Wing Chun where he studied privately under the inspirational teaching of Sifu Mark Phillips for some 10 years.
In 2005 Mark discovered Krav Maga, initially with the IKMF and then the British Academy of Krav Maga, where he helped open its first school in Kent.
A further move, this time into Sussex, led to a brief dalliance with Commando Krav Maga, before ultimately joining with Stewart McGill at the founding of the Urban Krav Maga system.
Mark is a lifetime member of NABBA and experienced in Kettlebell, Indian Clubs, Functional Fitness and is a qualified MMA Conditioning coach.
He has trained Pro MMA Fighters both for conditioning and techniques and has published the Self Defence Guide to surviving the Top 10 Attacks.
Ben Humphrey - Instructor

Ben is a registered instructor with the British Combat Association, an Instructor in Urban Krav Maga and included on the register of self-protection instructors.
Having trained and competed in Wado Ryu Karate, Ben started training Urban Krav Maga with Mark in 2010 before qualifying as an instructor in 2016.
A keen amateur Boxer and Gym junky, Ben is also a REPS qualified MMA conditioning Coach.
As well as teaching public classes Ben is available for private lessons.
All instructors must at least:
1. Teach successfully at least 5 techniques to instructors and students. Incorporating: correction/coaching, set drills, alternatives, scenarios etc.
2. Undergo repeated 10 minutes pressure testing being sequentially attacked by 4 others - attacks covering all UKM techniques-armed and unarmed.
3. Demonstrate appropriate sparring skills on ground/floor and free fighting.
Instructors train regularly with Leo Nagao who is the groundwork adviser for the Urban Krav Maga system.
Leo is Black Belt in BJJ, Cage Rage veteran, 10k clash competitor, Vale Tudo champion and Former undefeated 5xBJJ world champion.
